What Current collects about you
Nothing. There is no sign-in, no user account, and no profile. Meantime Studio does not receive your listening history, your subscriptions, your transcripts, or any identifier for your device.
No tracking, no advertising
Current contains no analytics, no crash-reporting service, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs of any kind.
What stays on your device
Your subscriptions, listening positions, bookmarks, notes, downloaded episodes, and generated transcripts and chapters are stored on your device. They are not transmitted to Meantime Studio.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, Current keeps your library, Up Next and listening positions in step across your iPhone, iPad and Mac through your own private iCloud database. That data is held by Apple under your Apple Account and Apple's privacy policy; Meantime Studio cannot see it. Turn iCloud off for Current in the Settings app and everything stays on the device.
Transcription happens on your device
Current transcribes episodes using Apple's on-device speech recognition, and generates chapter titles using Apple's on-device language model. Your audio is not uploaded anywhere for transcription. Translating a transcript and reading it aloud also happen on your device, with Apple's own frameworks.
Who Current talks to
- Podcast publishers. Episode audio, artwork, and feeds are fetched directly from whatever servers a show publishes on. Those servers see your IP address, as they would in any podcast app.
- Apple's podcast directory. When you search for a show, the search text is sent to Apple's iTunes Search API to get results. Nothing about your library is sent with it.
- The App Store. Current Plus is bought and managed through your Apple Account. Apple handles the payment; Meantime Studio receives no payment details.
Children
Current is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
